I love the type of music thats filling your ears right now. Of course there's a humorous twist to this particular song. I personally changed the words to "blow up doll". Sing it that way, its hysterical. Now on to the point:I'm a fan of all music. My collection has gone from Parliment Funkadelics to Frank Sinatra to Adam Ant to Garth Brooks to Slipknot. A professor of neurobiology and behavior at the University of California - Irvine wrote about music making and the brain. It is not intially a learned behavior. Cultures worldwide perform melody and tone formation naturally. The neurons in the right hemisphere of the brain respond more acutely to music than to language. I asked my ex-husband if he would please, please, play music cds for his mother. She's not responsive to the world and language anymore, but I thought she might still be able to be reached with music. It could sooth her, and draw her closer to the world again. A few years ago I was listening to one of my crooners, Frank Sintra. My father came over and when he heard what was playing he said, "Do you like this music?" I thought of all my cds of Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, The Mills Brothers, Swing, Big Band, and smiled. "Yes, I do." He said, "It just reminds me that they're all dead."I was so sad.The legacy of music is a gift. We all know that death is a doorway to a new adventure. We are all going to step through it. Christians call what lies beyond that doorway, "Heaven", Hindus call it "Reincarnation", Norse Pagans called it "Vallhala", Muslims attain the "Divine Light". Even if you're not a believer in the afterlife, it is your choice to live with positive energy. To take the gift of music and let it reach deep inside and inspire you. Music is one of those sensory memory triggers, like aromas. I will never hear the sound of a calliope without being thrown back in time to a lakeside carousel and pretty painted horses, and laughter. Everybody should have music in their life, even if its just the rhythm you tap out on your knee with your fingertips. Or on your blow up doll. SORRY, I just had to wind this up by going back to the beginning. *winks and sings*
